Freedom’s Flame
A Memorial Forged Out of Courage & Character
On September 11, 2001, the world changed forever. In a few brief moments, a vicious and unprovoked terrorist attack made an irreversible impact on our people, our nation and the global community. While the loss was immeasurable, this tragedy revealed the extraordinary spirit, courage and resolve of the American people. September 11, 2001 is another date that will live in infamy.
This Freedom’s Flame web site represents only a small part of this nation’s
response to this terrorist action – it is the story of two identical sculptures designed, created and erected by a multidisciplinary team of distinguished leaders, representatives of the arts, the military, criminal justice, firefighters, small business, major corporations, public administration and the non-profit sector.
The Freedom’s Flame memorial itself, to be located in Ontario (California) , commemorates 9-11 and honors the heroes and families touched by this event.
A second – and identical – sculpture will be presented to New York City as a gift, creating a strong bi-coastal link and a powerful national tribute.
Freedom’s Flame is a respectful reminder that will live for generations.
